MMMM Sweet Potatoes!
Tonight we made a big step. Solids! Ok, that term is used loosely. We were going to wait until 6 months but went ahead a couple weeks early. He seemed to enjoy himself =)

First bike ride
Tomorrow I get a cavity filled. Fun times, I know! I have only had a couple in my life so I guess I can't complain.
I also want to welcome to the world Charlotte Elizabeth Longtin. My best friend from high school and his wife had their beautiful baby girl on Friday. Their blog is Hello World.

5 months
I know its been a couple weeks since I have posted. Lots has happened since we went to the beach. Remember the tripodding picture? Well, that lasted about 2 weeks. He now sits up to play without having to support himself!
He is getting so big.
He also likes to "help" me with the camera. A little self portrait to showcase his eyes.
We went to dad's last weekend. Had a great time. Heather just loved on him til she couldnt keep her eyes open. She introduced him to her bird, Nickie. Notice Nickie isnt quite sure what to make of Nathan.
Then she "let" him sleep in her lap. I think they both ended up snoozing.
Jeremy has a new girlfriend. sniff sniff. Her name is Nickie. He has never been around big birds but I think he is starting to see the draw of them now. He just adored her. To be fair, she is a cuddle bug and just a very chill Umbrella. There is nothing not to love.
Thats a good summary of the last couple of weeks without getting into poopy diapers and sleep struggles. Both of which I know each reader is eager to read. This weekend we are looking forward to relaxing. Going nowhere. just lazing about.

Beach day!
We took Nathan to the beach today for the first time. He loves the wind blowing in his hair. So cute. I made him keep his hat on for the most part though. We laid him in the sand and he just wiggled right in. It was a little chilly for him to get in the water =( Summer will be here soon though.
We sat by the little splash zone and he took a nap. Salt air does a baby (and parents!) good.
Did I mention he is tripodding??? This is all happening so fast =(
This is the other new trick. MMMM feet. milk or feet...milk or feet..... I can see the choice to be made =)

Craft time
For those that know me well, you know that Amy and crafts just do not get along. I have the ideas down, but follow through is just something that doesn't work out so well. Im not patient and my attention to detail on crafting projects is nonexistent.
You can see the booty right under the snowman's tongue. It is a slightly different color than the rest of the face.
That said, I am SO proud of myself with these plates. My friend Jenn made reindeer plates with her son's hands and feet. They were adorable. Like any good copycat, I took myself down to the local paint your own pottery studio. Once there,
I begged for help. I wont lie. I looked through her catalog of hand and feet ideas. So cute. Then, there it was. The booty section! Thats right, painted butts of children smooshed onto pottery pieces. So very Amy, right?!
After reviewing her ideas, I settled on the snowman. I liked that it wasn't screaming obvious that its my child's backside but you can still tell. I had hers to go by so I gave it a whirl. 3 hours later, we were done with 3 plates and an ornament with his hands and feet. Katie was beyond helpful. I stripped Nathan and laid him across my like I was going to spank him. SHe slathered on the white paint and rolled the plate into position. Then she helped me do the hands and feet on the ornament. I could not have done it alone. She even let me put Nathan in her daughter's pack and play so I could work a little easier.
The grandmas loved them and even Jeremy said they turned out better than he could have imagined. Katie, the owner, says you can get about 3 years out of the butts. I see 2 more Christmas butts in my future =)
Admit it, its cuter than you thought, right? Especially knowing that its an Amy creation!
